Job summary

Instrument Development Company in Mukwonago, WI is hiring a Machinist-Level 2 for a full-time, first-shift role. You will start by setting up with instruction, learn basic 3-axis programs, and draw parts in CAD, with Friday-Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM shifts and a $4 per hour shift premium.

You will read blueprints, adjust tooling, set offsets, edit feeds, and ensure quality while following safety rules. On-the-job training is available; prior tape measure and CNC experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Tape measure and hand tool experience required.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machines.
• On-the-job training available for entry-level candidates.

Responsibilities

• Read refractometer to maintain proper concentration and coolant levels.
• Set tools and make offsets in tool page, load a program and establish work-holding positions and make minor program edits.
• Edit individual tool feed rates to establish SFM and related chip loads.
• Read, interpret, and understand blueprint specifications to methods of manufacturing (MOM) per routing.
• Identify when to replace dull tooling before catastrophic failure.
• Complete any and all required paperwork such as Job Traveler, VISTA, etc.
• Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.
• Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Full Time | Shift: First Shift | Category: Manufacturing

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Team Leader and General Manager, the machinist will begin by setting up with proper instruction and learn basic 3-axis programs; draw a part in CAD.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Days: Friday – Sunday
• Times: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Shift premium: $4.00 per hour
• Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours
• Full-time benefits, PTO, and holiday pay are included.

Functions and Responsibilities

• Read refractometer to maintain proper concentration and coolant levels.

Desired Education / Experience

• Tape measure and hand tool experience is desired.
• Hands-on experience working with a variety of CNC machines.
• Previous experience working in manufacturing is desired, however, on-the-job training will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to perform all the duties and responsibilities of a Machinist-Level 2.
• Ability to set up and adjust work-holding devices.
• General understanding of machine types and their applications.
• Ability to understand and comprehend industrial math.
• Strong knowledge of technical GD&T drawing and reading skills.
• Ability to understand quality standards and gauging.
• Basic understanding of hard gauging checks on granite table.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds intermittently.
• Ability to stand 100% of the workday and occasionally bend or twist.
