Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Machinist Trainer to provide designated skills training and support to the Staunton, VA manufacturing unit. You will deliver classroom and hands-on training, assess performance, and support ASME qualification efforts.

The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 6–8 years of training experience, and the willingness to travel 30–40% internationally.

Responsibilities

• Work with Manufacturing Skills Manager to establish dojo safety metrics and ensure trainees follow plant safety requirements.
• Confer with management and quality staff to determine training objectives and standardize processes.
• Create training programs using ADDIE, BEM, and TWI-JI, including outlines, handouts, tests and hands-on exercises.
• Schedule classes based on skills requirements and availability in coordination with local management.
• Provide classroom and hands-on skills training to new and transfer employees.
• Oversee training, demonstrate procedures, observe trainees, and provide coaching.
• Administer exams and evaluate learning transfer with feedback and skill validation.
• Provide remedial training for trainees needing improvement.
• Maintain training records, conduct audits, and ensure corrective actions.
• Ensure 5S in dojo area and participate in kaizen, RCCA, CPI, and NPI projects.
• Collaborate with ASME auditors to maintain factory qualification where applicable.
• Continually develop subject matter knowledge related to training and Daikin Systems quality.

Under general direction, they will provide classroom and hands-on training, TWI-JI training, training evaluation, performance improvement projects, new trainer training, and factory ASME qualification support. Location: Staunton, VA - In-Office

Your Responsibilities:

• Work with Manufacturing Skills Manager to establish and display dojo safety metrics and ensure trainees working in the dojo follow all plant safety requirements
• Confer with management and quality staff to determine training objectives and coordinate and standardize processes
• Use the Quality Tools, ADDIE & BEM (models) and TWI-JI to create training programs including writing outlines, handouts, and tests and designing hands-on exercises
• Schedule classes based on skills requirements and classroom and student availability working collaboratively with the local management team to coordinate training
• Provide classroom and hands-on skills training to new and transfer employees
• Oversee hands-on training, personally demonstrate procedures being taught, and observe trainees in dojo, providing coaching and answers to trainees' questions
• Administer written and practical exams to measure employees theoretical learning, evaluate learning transfer through hands-on/demonstrative activities, provide appropriate feedback during training, and validate skills
• Work with management regarding trainees who have not successfully obtained the skills and knowledge required and provide remedial training as appropriate
• Ensure training records and files are maintained appropriately by conducting annual training file audits, provide feedback to location management, and ensure corrective actions are taken if needed
• Ensure 5S principles are followed in the dojo training area, serving as a model for the rest of the plant
• Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to training facility and integrate information into training program
• Assist with Kaizen teams, RCCA activities, CPI projects, and TWI OJT support, special projects, and NPI projects to prevent and correct related defects
• For sites that are ASME certified, work with the 3rd party ASME auditor to ensure and maintain factory ASME qualification
• Continually work to improve their own subject matter skills and knowledge related to training and to the Production of Daikin Systems (PDS) and quality
• Other duties as assigned

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $53,500 to $88,300 in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
