Job description




Machinist Trainee - Second Shift


Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Second Shift Machinist Trainee position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.



Summary:


Entry role focused on training and assisting operators. Performs routine tasks which include cleaning machines, deburring parts, and saw operations.



Responsibilities:



  • Operates saws and delivers material to operators as needed.

  • Operates lift devices (chain hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts).

  • Keeps material area clean and provides assistance with cycle count needs.

  • Conducts in-process inspection.

  • Prepares/enters/completes work order reporting, transactions, documentation, and non-conformances in applicable software and computer systems.

  • Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.

  • Must be able to pass forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.

Work Environment:


The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.



Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings.

  • Exposure to hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges).

  • Basic math and computer skills.



Preferred:



  • Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.



This position will work second shift (Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:45am)
