Position Description

Our Advanced Metals Processing department is equipped with a variety of cutting-edge machines that range from mills to lathes, which allows for the opportunity to broaden your capabilities. As a machinist at our company, your precision and expertise are integral to maintaining the highest quality standards, driving manufacturing excellence, and directly influencing the success of our innovative projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup and Operation: Operate CNC Swiss Screw Lathe machines including Citizen L-12, Citizen L-20, Citzen Cincom, Tornos DECO, Star SR20R, SwissTec, Coherent StarCut, and ensure precise setup and alignment within specifications.
  • Tool Management: Manage tool changes and make offset adjustments for accurate machining processes, conducting routine checks on tool conditions.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret blueprint dimensions accurately, in order to manufacture parts within specifications.
  • Inspection: Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts are within specified tolerances.
  • Adherence to Policies and Guidelines: Adhere to machining policies, Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO standards, and safety guidelines for compliance and quality assurance promptly reporting and resolving non-compliance issues.

Performance Objectives:

Within 60 days:

  • Minimize defects and errors in the production process through careful attention to detail and precision.
  • Successfully interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to accurately set up and machine parts according to requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and coordination.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Within 90 days to one year:

  • Operate machinery efficiently to meet or exceed production targets and deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvement in machine operations.
  • Exhibit the ability to identify and troubleshoot common machining issues, proposing and implementing solutions to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating a wider range of machining equipment with minimal supervision, including advanced setups and adjustments.
  • Enhance communication skills and foster strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to facilitate smooth workflow, problem-solving, and knowledge exchange.
  • Continuously improve tool selection, setup procedures, and machining processes to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to set up and operate CNC Swiss Screw Lathe machines with precision and thoroughness to meet quality standards in a production environment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and manufacture parts within specifications.
  • Possess basic machine shop math skills and ability to perform calculations.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) using precision measuring instruments and ensure parts conform to the blueprints.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical information and collaborate on problem-solving.
  • Efficient prioritization and time management skills to meet production schedules.

Preferred

  • Work flexible and extended hours as needed within 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. Must be available to work weekends.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the highest quality of finished products.
  • Willingness to explore innovative machining techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in machining processes or technology.
  • Experience with any of the following machines: Star, Citizen, and Deco.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
