Job summary

Festo Corporation in Mason, OH is seeking a Machinist for the 2nd shift to set up and operate CNC Lathe machines, producing components for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds.

You will read blueprints, run programs, inspect parts to spec, adjust tools, and ensure parts meet drawing tolerances. Experience in a machine shop and familiarity with measuring tools are required; SAP-like systems are a plus. This is a full-time role on 2nd shift.

Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing/warehouse/machine shop environment or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Ability to read, write and modify programs for CNC Lathe machines.
Knowledge of measuring equipment (caliper, micrometer, depth gage, etc.).
Familiarity with safety standards in machine shops.
Knowledge of basic machine practices and safety standards.
Knowledge of the Metric system.

Responsibilities

Set up CNC machines to produce production parts to drawing specifications.
Operate CNC Lathe and milling machines to produce components.
Perform first piece inspection to drawing specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints and tolerances.
Change tool offsets to maintain dimensions per drawings.
Washes rods and prepare for assembly as needed.
Willingness to work second shift and overtime as required.

Summary of job contents

Sets up and Operate CNC Lathe machines in order to produce the required parts for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds. Cuts and machines rods and barrels for use in the assembly of full range of pneumatic cylinders. Operates various specialty machinery, i.e. tube cutter, tube deburrer, tube polisher, rod saw, flat press, and roller burnishing machine.

Key Accountabilities

Performs complex CNC machine setups
Ability to read, write and modify programs for the CNC Lathe machines
Machines production components to critical blueprint tolerances
Machine piston rods on CNC Lathe & Machine various parts on CNC milling machine
Machine production parts on manual lathe and milling machines as required
Set up CNC machines to produce production parts to drawing specifications
Perform first piece inspection to drawing specifications
Changes tool off sets to maintain dimensions per production drawings
Reads inspection equipment in both inch and metric increments (caliper, micrometer, depth gage, Last word indicator, pitch micrometer etc…)
Verifies conformance of all components to specifications.
Uses various types of roller burnishing machines to finish piston rods. & Washes rods in cleaning solution to prepare for assembly.

Knowledge And Experience
