Job summary

Birdon America Inc. in Denver, Colorado is seeking a capable Machinist: Production Saw Operator to set up and operate production saw equipment and fabricating metal components to drawing specifications and quality standards.

You will read blueprints, perform machine setups, carry out quality inspections, and safely operate fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment. This full-time, on-site role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to handle lifting and material

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating press brake equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC machine controls.
• Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently under direction of a leader, and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal, vertical, and/or cold saws to cut raw materials according to production requirements.
• Measure, mark, and verify cut lengths and dimensions.
• Maintain proper material identification and traceability.
• Perform blade changes and routine equipment maintenance as required.
• Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet delivery commitments.
• Complete production records and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S practices.
• Assist with material handling using forklifts, cranes, hoists, and lifting devices as authorized.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $27.77 To $36.15 Hourly

Position Overview:

The Production Saw Operator is responsible for setting up and operating production saw equipment to fabricate metal components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position will also have times of supporting other Machines in the Machine Shop pending need. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, performing machine setups, conducting quality inspections, and safely operating various fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Saw Operations

• Operate horizontal, vertical, and/or cold saws to cut raw materials according to production requirements.
• Measure, mark, and verify cut lengths and dimensions.

General Fabrication Responsibilities

• Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet delivery commitments.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating waterjet cutting equipment.
• Experience operating industrial saws and fabrication equipment.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification.
• Experience in heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, defence, aerospace, or metal manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with mechanical assistance.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, gloves, and other protective equipment.
