Job summary

National Beef Packing of Liberal, Kansas is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision parts from engineering drawings. You will read blueprints, select tooling, perform setups, measure parts and maintain tight tolerances to meet quality standards.

The role requires experience with Haas controls, read and interpret drawings, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Experience as a machinist and ability to read blueprints.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and work instructions.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes and cutting tools.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with attention to detail.
• Lift up to 90 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Read, write and speak English; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders).
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and work instructions.
• Select tooling, fixtures and materials for each job.
• Perform machine setups including offsets, tool changes and part alignment.
• Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring tools.
• Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust for accuracy and finish.
• Deburr, clean and prepare parts for delivery or next operation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow safety policies.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and communicate progress to team.
