Job summary

WENCOR seeks a skilled machinist to support the setup and operation of machine tools, fabricate or repair precision mechanical parts, and modify components as needed. The role requires practical knowledge of machining methods, shop mathematics, metal properties, and machining procedures.

The candidate will read and use micrometers and bore gauges, center chucks, and machine parts to exact specifications while following safety procedures for grinding dust and equipment.

Qualifications

• Must speak, read and write English.
• Should have basic computer software skills.
• Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not required.
• Should be able to read blueprints.

Overview Of The Position

Perform functions assigned in the set up and operation of machine tools applying knowledge of machining methods. Fabricate, modify, or repair precision mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management
• Use and be able to read micrometers and bore gauges
• Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding
• Machine indicate or "zero" parts on machines
• Machine parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers"
• Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts
• Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust

Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must speak, read and write the English language
