Job summary

HEICO is seeking a skilled machinist to operate machine tools and fabricate, modify, or repair precision mechanical instruments. You will work from travelers and blueprints, applying knowledge of machining methods and metal properties.

Candidates should read micrometers and bore gauges, center chucks, and machine parts to specification. Basic computer skills are helpful, and safety procedures must be followed on all operations.

Qualifications

• Must read, speak, and write English.
• Basic computer skills are helpful.
• Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) is helpful but not required.
• Should be able to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of how to handle non-conforming product and safety procedures.

• Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management.
• Use and be able to read micrometers and bore gauges.
• Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding.
• Machine indicate or "zero" parts on machines.

• Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts.
• Understand the dust recovery system and safety rules for grinding dust and dressing rock dust.

Overview Of The Position

Perform functions assigned in the set up and operation of machine tools applying knowledge of machining methods. Fabricate, modify, or repair precision mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

• Use and be able to read micrometers and bore gauges
• Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding
• Machine indicate or "zero" parts on machines
• Machine parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers"
• Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts
• Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust

Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must speak, read and write the English language
• Should have basic computer software skills
• Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not required.
• Should be able to read blueprints
• Have knowledge of and understand the Control of Non-conforming product
• Have knowledge and understanding of Suspected Unapproved Parts
• Have knowledge and understanding of all safety procedures applicable to the job or jobs being performed
