Qualifications

  • Education: HS diploma or GED with 1–2 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Language: ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance docs.
  • Math: ability to calculate figures and basic geometry.
  • Reasoning: problem-solver with multiple variables.
  • Computer Skills: knowledge of manufacturing and CNC software.
  • Work Environment: may include fumes, noise; safety-conscious.
  • Physical Demands: lift up to 40 pounds; stand/walk frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and edit CNC Lathe/Mill programs to perform machining operations.
  • Set up and operate CNC Lathe to complete metal work pieces to specifications.
  • Review setup sheets and specifications to determine program sequence and dimensions.
  • Insert cutting tools/tool holders and position tools on turret.
  • Verify accuracy against blueprints using inspection tools.
  • Make adjustments to program/tooling to meet specifications.
  • Load bar stock or tubing in feeder tube.
  • Run secondary operations when time allows.
  • Assist lead in scheduling workload to save time.
  • Maintain production completion logs and paperwork.
  • Report discrepancies to supervisor; keep area clean and safe.
  • Perform regular daily equipment maintenance.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software; database software and CNC software.
