DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Machinist – Level I – Apprentice to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  1. Developing Tool Room Skills: By assisting skilled trades and completing required training, you will gain valuable tool room skills essential for a manufacturing environment.

  4. Supporting Maintenance: Your involvement in preventive, emergency, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities will help keep equipment running smoothly.

  5. Improving Processes: By identifying and reducing manufacturing constraints and participating in continuous improvement activities, you will help optimize production processes.

  6. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping your work area clean and orderly will contribute to a safer and more efficient work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  4. Apply Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrate your understanding of manufacturing processes by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and drive continuous improvement.

  5. Tool and Fixture Design: Select and utilize work-piece-holding devices that effectively secure parts and products during manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet functional requirements.

Education/Experience

  1. High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  2. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  3. Minimal or no work experience required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Pre-Testing Information

  1. Skilled Trades pre-test should be completed by internal applicants with a passing score before applying.

  2. External applicants will be contacted for testing if selected for an interview.

Additional Information

  1. This position will be focused on the refurbishment and manufacturing of cutting tools for use in RMEP's machining operations.

  2. Required skills include Blueprint reading, using precision measuring tools, CNC programming and machine operation, and understanding the application of cutting tool geometries.

  3. This position is an apprenticeship.

  4. Requirements will include earning course credits at a community college as well as earning 8000 hrs. of on-the-job training.
