Job summary

One Source Manufacturing Headquarters in Leander, TX is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate and program CNC machines, fabricating precision parts for production and prototypes. The role involves collaborating with engineering to determine operation sequences, performing setups, monitoring tool life, and ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced shop environment.

ITAR compliance and the ability to read blueprints are required; HS diploma and 5 years' experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines to fabricate parts.
• Determine operation sequences with engineering for prototypes.
• Edit CNC programs when proving code on prototypes.
• Load parts, cycle machine and detect malfunctions.
• Set up and run prototype and production lots; maintain a safe, organized work environment.
• Document setup information and provide recommendations for tool life management.
• Detect and report defective materials or conditions to management.
• Maintain clean work area and follow prescribed safety procedures (5S).
• Perform milling, turning, drilling, deburring, sawing and sanding tasks.
• Inspect machined products and document results per inspection methods.
• Process work orders through ERP system.
• Complete NCMRs to identify non-conforming product or material.
• Monitor required training on a weekly basis.
• Train CNC Operator 1 and CNC Operator 2 on good machining practices.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• The CNC Machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts.
• Work with Engineering or programming to determine a sequence of operations on prototype parts using best known methods of manufacture.
• Has the authority to make program edits when proving out the CNC code on prototype parts.
• Loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Performs set ups and runs prototype and production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
• Performs all assigned machine shop operations.
• Documents information used for set ups, provides recommendations for tool life management.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures, 5S practices and daily maintenance logs.
• Regularly performs milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding tasks.
• Performs inspection of machined products, and documents results in accordance with prescribed inspection methods listed on I.P.I (In Process Inspection).
• Processes work orders through ERP system.
• Completes NCMRs to identify non-conforming product or material.
• Monitors required training on a weekly basis.
• Trains and mentors CNC Operator 1 and CNC Operator 2 employees on good machining practices.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are up to 50 pounds.

Education / Experience

• Successful demonstration of CNC Operator Level 2 duties.
