Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech? Vishay Barry is currently seeking applicants for a Machinist IV 3. The Machinist IV 3 is responsible for setting up, programming, operating and training on manual and CNC machines including secondary operations. The Machinist IV 3 produces complex machined fixtures, tooling and components by setting up, and operating CNC, vertical mills, lathes, and traditional conventional machines. The Machinist IV 3 maintains quality and safety standards and maintains supplies and equipment. The Machinist IV 3 transfers information from part drawings to complete components of a high degree of complexity and high quality. The Machinist IV 3 helps facilitate and streamline all production needs by working with the Machine Shop management team. The Machinist IV 3 helps train and foster machine shop operators to become competent, productive and efficient.

Job Location:

Vishay Barry is located in Attleboro, MA that is conveniently located near the main highways as well as some highly recommended restaurants. There are approximately 70 employees across two shifts working at our 40,000 sq. ft. facility of manufacturing space. This would be an on-site position.

What you will be doing:

  • Produce fixture, tooling and components using manual machines, Bridgeport, CNC machines, Matsuura, Fanuc and Santec. Additional machines may be used including Kickpress, Zed machine, Vapor Hone, Furnaces, etc.
  • Responsible to create CNC programs using blueprints, specifications, G-code, and DNC. Create and prove out programs, setup and maintain tooling, and continually improve programs for efficiency and cost.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Perform machine set-ups, tool offsets, edits and troubleshoot programs with minimal supervision.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot problems or out-of-tolerance conditions. Provide support and guidance to team members as problems are identified. Seek solutions to minimize down-time and initiate actions to avoid similar problems in the future.
  • Troubleshoot machinery to ensure production and product quality.
  • Be aware of key metrics on quality, productivity, safety, and inventory usage and report when required.
  • Participate in periodic communication meetings with the team regarding safety, quality and productivity.
  • Train new operators on machine setup, operation, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for setting up work for other operators.
  • Create setup and process sheets.
  • Draw on intuitive knowledge and experience to setup part operations, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
  • Use drawings, prints, measurement hand tools, microscopes, and computers.
  • Evaluate tooling to improve product quality.
  • Help to reduce cost by repurposing scrap material into finished goods.
  • Responsible for holding tight tolerances.
  • Recommend continuous improvement opportunities and abide by 5S activity.
  • Complete work accurately by following written instructions and adhere to required safety rules.
  • Must be able to learn new products quickly, work independently and be highly motivated.

What you will bring along:

  • High School Diploma (Vocational School preferred).
  • Higher Level Machinist education or certification preferred.
  • 10+ years as a skilled, proven Class A Machinist.
  • 8+ years CNC programming experience.
  • Experience with microscopes and hand tools.
  • Experience with prints/specifications and computers.
  • Manual and CNC machine experience.
  • ERP experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong work ethic.
  • High level of work quality.
