Job summary

TechnipFMC is seeking an experienced machinist to produce precision components in a high-accuracy environment. You will read drawings, set up tooling, and program CNC controls to meet exact specifications while protecting equipment from crashes.

A strong focus on quality and continuous improvement is required. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of machining experience, can interpret CMM reports and GD&T, and can mentor newer machinists.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years machining experience with ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in CMM interpretation and GD&T.
  • Skilled in tool and fixture setup and Machining center operations.
  • Knowledge of G and M codes and canned cycles.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks in a busy shop.

  • Protect machine tools from crashes and maintain accuracy of parts.
  • Follow QAP documentation and shop procedures.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance and mentor junior machinists.

Job Purpose
Will be directly responsible for machining quality components to stated specifications. Will be directly responsible for protecting machine tools from damage caused by “Crashes.” The position requires a high degree of independent thinking, attention to detail, and resourcefulness to translate specifications into component requirements and apply the best practices effectively. Receives little to no guidance with difficult technical and scheduling problems. Accuracy of machined components is required.

  • Work under limited supervision and follows written and/or verbal instructions and established procedures to perform standardized or advanced tasks.
  • Effectively retrieve, understand, and adhere to QAP documentation.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance as needed.
  • Independently responsible and accountable for quality work.
  • Act as a mentor to new machinists.
You Are Meant For This Job If
  • 5 plus years machining experience, including the following:
  • The ability to build and set all tooling, including but not limited to: Turning tools, grooving, and roughing, finishing, and contour tooling.
  • Demonstrates proficiency to read, interpret drawings, technical specifications and CMM reports.
  • Possess and demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Experience making tool and fixture offsets.
  • Ability to identify all deviations in material requirements.
  • Ability to utilize and provide advanced explanation of fixturing and machine offsets.
  • A thorough understanding of G and M codes, canned cycles & circular interpolation.
  • Must have experience in correct use and interpretation of all indicators, probing tools, as well as setting tool lengths at the machine.
  • Advanced understanding and application of basic Lean Methodology.
  • Proper use of all measuring instruments, including but not limited to: ID mics, OD mics, Calipers, Blade mics, Tri mics, etc.)
  • Ability to use and set up technical tools and instruments required to perform product line duties.
  • Advanced understanding of and ability to train on 5S principles.
  • Master-level understanding of how to read and use measuring instruments.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with a master-level understanding of error proofing.
  • Capability to identify and setup fixturing for the parts in the cell/machine in accordance with set-up documentation.
  • Understanding of how to build complex tools.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in addition to key performance objectives.
  • A thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience on the CMM preferable, MUST be able to interpret the CMM reports.
  • General knowledge of basic Math, Geometry & Trigonometry.
  • Good understanding of material properties preferred.
  • Must be able to use all functions of CNC controls.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a written and practical test of competency.
  • Ability to read programs and perform advanced editing.
  • Ability to train machinists grades 10.2 and below.
  • Proficient in running machines such as a saw, basic mills, MTO Mills, MTO Lathes and two-axis lathes.
  • Ability to operate such machines as a robotic cell with no supervision, advanced bending tech with the ability to program the robots or complex mills with advanced and multiple set ups.
Work Environment
Spends 95% of the time in a manufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in limited spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.
Physical Demands
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in limited workspaces, and repetitive lifting of components up to 50 lbs.
