Job summary

TechnipFMC plc is seeking a Finishing Technician I to join our global manufacturing team. This role involves taking machined parts from raw or unfinished state and finishing them using drill presses, grinders, tumbling equipment, and various hand tools to meet print specifications.

You will review blueprints, apply finishing solutions, and inspect work with standard shop equipment while interacting with machinists, quality control, and product development.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of machine shop experience.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Wear steel-toe shoes and PPE as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate standard finishing equipment such as drill press, grinder and tumbling machines.
• Use hand tools and inspect parts to ensure print dimensions and cosmetics are met.
• Review blueprints and apply finishing solutions per instructions.
• Document processes and interact with machinists and quality control.
• Coordinate with product development and other shop personnel.

Job Purpose

The Finishing Technician I takes a machined part in raw or unfinished state and uses variety of tools, equipment, and processes to \"finish\" the part. This position must have a fundamental understanding of overall machining practices. The materials that are used consists of castings, forgings, tubing, bar stock, extrusions, steel, stainless steel titanium, brass, aluminum, and copper.

Job Description

• Operation of standard Finishing equipment, such as:


• Drill Press


• Grinder


• Tumbling machines with abrasives


• Miscellaneous hand tools such as a grinder, sander, Dremel tools, blades, knives, and wrenches


• Bead Blaster


• Spinner


• Strong attention to detail and focus on cosmetics of the part


• Review blueprints for part features


• Utilization of standard shop inspection equipment and inspects the work piece to ensure print dimensions are maintained


• Completes documentation while following specific processes


• Interaction with machinists, quality control, and other machine shop personnel


• Assess and apply appropriate finishing solutions per instructions to both new and current manufacturing processes


• Interface with product development, quality control, and other machine shop personnel

Hourly Salary Range:

$16.92-$31.44

• This position spends 95% in a climate controlled shop environment and 5% in an office.


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions.


• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak for long periods of time.


• Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.


• Ability to lift 40 pounds


• Wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and other personal protective equipment as needed.


• Ability to work on concrete floors and wear steel toed shoes up to 10-12 hours per day.
