Responsibilities

1. Form and shape materials.
2. Operate lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, and profile machines.
3. Follow drawings and instructions to create parts for repairs, experimental apparatus, or prototypes.
4. Perform diversified machining to standard tolerances.
5. Apply extensive knowledge of metals and measurement techniques.
6. Determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and required machines based on specifications.
7. Calculate cutting speeds, feed rates, and dimensions.
8. Inspect machined parts for conformance.
9. Prepare and pre-set tools for machining operations.
10. May provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced machinists.
11. Conduct daily maintenance checks on machines.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of related work experience.
• Crane/Forklift certification (training provided).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proper use of safety equipment such as safety boots, hard hats, fall protection, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other hand tools.
