What You’ll Do
You, being a level three machinist, specialize in the operation of precision CNC machining and/or gear cutting equipment. You must have knowledge of numeric controls (CNC), specialized tooling and other technology, perform close tolerance machining, setups, and use of a variety of precision measuring instruments.
Your focus is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. The job environment promotes steady, methodical work output so that job routines can be completed on time and error-free.
As a machinist, your knowledge of CNC machining and specialized tooling makes you an integral part of the team. Your high-quality, detailed work is necessary to produce precise gears for our products that help put out fires and haul garbage away.
- Operate multiple machines simultaneously as required
- Interpret written instructions and specifications, including blueprint reading
- Perform a variety of turning operations with aluminum, cast iron, and steel materials to specified tolerances
- Use a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments
- Assure that parts produced comply with company quality standards by monitoring the production process, following inspection procedures, measuring dimensions, and identifying variances
- Perform machine setups and tool changes
- Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining
- Partially dismantle machines and perform minor maintenance work
- Lift and move heavy objects
- Inspect finished parts
- Responsible for completing work orders and reporting labor hours worked
- Recommend process changes to optimize production and improve quality
- Keep the work area clean and orderly
- Communicate production status to the supervisor and to shift personnel as required to ensure any problems and/or schedules are understood
- Contribute to cost reductions and productivity improvements
Your Experiences & Skills
- Prefer one (1) year of CNC training in an accredited vocational institute and three (3) years of machining experience
- Ability to interpret written instructions and specifications
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Good mathematical aptitude
- Ability to read and comprehend detailed drawings, sketches, notes, and blueprints
- Knowledge of metric dimensions
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
- Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
- Ability to work well with others
- Experience in performing setups and tool changes
- Experience in finished parts inspection using various precision measurement tools
- Must be able to provide own basic inspection and hand tools

SHIFT TYPE: Monday–Thursday (4-10s) day and night shift, Friday–Saturday (3-12s)
