Job Description Summary: Intermediate Prototype CNC Machinist. Must be proficient in the operation of CNC Mills and/or Lathes. Interpret drawings and solid models to produce components in a diverse range of materials in support of R&D activities. Projects include a diverse range of fixtures, production component support, and new product development.

Summary

Manufacturing Machinists are responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting automatic machining centers to produce precision parts and instruments. The primary duties of this position include meeting all safety requirements, quality assurance standards, and production goals. Manufacturing Machinists must be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and set up CNC machining centers including but not limited to; lathes, mills, boring mills, and grinders.
  • Monitor machine operations by watching gauges and dials on machines to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Load and unload machines manually or using hoists.
  • Interpret blueprints and other written instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure final product meets required specifications.
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), in conjunction with blueprints to check own work.
  • Maintain records of finished products.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing staff to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities to increase productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CNC equipment operation and programming.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of shop math.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret geometric tolerances.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
