Job summary

Chromalox is seeking an experienced Machinist II for 2nd shift to produce high-quality components using CNC mills and lathes. You will read blueprints, select tooling, and ensure tolerances while contributing to continuous improvement.

You will work with Haas, Okuma, and Cincinnati machines in a team-focused environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency. Overtime opportunities and shift differential are available.

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong blueprint-reading and dimensional inspection skills required.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments is essential.
• Ability to perform machine setups and adjust processes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions for efficient machining.
• Make machine adjustments and process corrections to maintain tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other tools.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues as needed.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and TPM activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist in training less experienced team members.

The Role:

• Setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions for efficient and accurate machining.
• Performing machine adjustments and making process corrections to maintain tolerances.
• Inspecting finished parts using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Assisting with troubleshooting machining and production issues.
• Performing routine preventative maintenance and supporting TPM initiatives.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Supporting continuous improvement efforts and helping train less experienced team members.
• Collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve processes and product performance.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a machinist who enjoys technical work, takes ownership of quality, and has a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong blueprint-reading and dimensional inspection skills.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform machine setups and make machining adjustments as needed.
• Understanding of shop mathematics, tolerances, and machining principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
