Qualifications

Job summary:

Operate one or more CNC or manual machines to fabricate production parts to print specifications and quality standards in accordance with company schedules, policies, and procedures. Perform other duties incidental to the job as assigned.

Requires a thorough understanding of all company safety policies and objectives and the ability to properly use existing equipment, such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, drills, etc. Must be skilled in working within close tolerances and have the ability to use various types of precision measuring devices.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work from drawings, sketches, and specifications to complete various machining operations.
  • Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting, and alignment of machined parts.
  • Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedures and perform inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, requisition forms, etc. for each job.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion and conform to all quality procedures and standards.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
  • Operate machinery/equipment in a safe manner.
  • Make jigs, fixtures, or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
  • Acquire raw material, supplies, tools, etc., when necessary.
  • Assist in training other machinists as requested.
  • Perform first piece inspections on basic products for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
  • Grind tools when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc., and make competent decisions related to the job at hand.
  • Utilize Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on prints.
  • Provide feedback on trends and recommend process improvements.
Required Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent

Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience, preferably with engineered plastics
  • Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary.
  • Understanding of GD&T is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints.
