Genuine Parts Company in Houston is looking for a Machinist who sets up, operates, and adjusts various machines like lathes and grinders. The ideal candidate will work from drawings to create parts, measure for defects, and maintain equipment. A high school diploma or GED is required, alongside knowledge of metals and machining processes. Qualifications
Eligibility for DoD Skillbridge program is required.
Manual dexterity and ability to lift 50 pounds or more required.
Responsibilities
Sets up, operates, and adjusts various types of machines.
Measures and tests completed units to check for defects.
Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
Studies blueprints and drawings to determine methods of fabrication.
Designs fixtures or tooling to meet special engineering needs.
Skills
Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes
Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software
Knowledge of mathematics and its application
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control
Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators
Ability to use piranha, metal shear, and metal breaks
Education
High school diploma or GED
