Job summary

Cameron Manufacturing & Design Inc is seeking a Machinist I (Advanced) to safely set up and operate lathes and mills, including CNC and manual machines. The role requires reading blueprints and performing complex set-ups with attention to quality.

Candidates should have a high school diploma with the indicated certifications or an associate degree in machine tool technology and at least 4 years of experience. Mastercam and Autodesk Fusion experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Reading blueprints is required.
  • GD&T knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to use precision inspection tools.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and perform complex set-ups.
  • Operate lathe and mill, including manual and CNC machines.
  • Write and read complex programs at the machine.

Position Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma with a Technical School Certificate or Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology, with a minimum of (4) years experience or
  • High School Diploma with a CNC Machinist Journeyman Certificate with a minimum of (4) years experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing & pulling up to 75 lbs.
  • Standing; constant standing upright, while working at workbenches, machinery, or operating equipment.
  • Stooping; frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Reaching; frequently extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Handling; frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with the hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears.
  • Fingering; frequently picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Feeling; occasionally noting attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Hearing; constantly perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.
  • Near acuity vision; constant clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
  • Proximity to moving parts; frequent exposure to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery.
  • Exposure to noise; frequent exposure to mild to moderate noise levels. Noise from powered press brakes, powered shears, automatic punches, power hand grinders, power hand sanders, air compressors, forklift trucks, and hammering.
  • Maintain environmental standards as established in the QEMS, recommend solutions to protect the environment, reduce pollution & environmental hazards.

Other:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Description

Position:

The main function is the capability of the safe set-up and operation of various machines, including lathes and mills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Capable of performing complex set-ups and minor machine adjustments including weldments, asssemblies, ect as necessary.

  • Manual and CNC machines
  • Responsible for performing in-process quality control checks.
  • Ability to use inspection equipment.
  • Ability to write & read complex programs at the machine
  • Knowledge and understanding of GD& T
  • Knowledge of tools and usages, along with providing your own tools.
  • Knowledge of materials and usages.
  • Assist with other employees in all processes noted above, working in conjunction with Supervisor duties as assigned.
  • Follow all safety rules on machinery and in the shop.
  • Mastercam experience.
  • Audtodesk Fusion experience preferred.
