Join to apply for the Machinist I-1st Shift role at STERIS

Position Summary

Setup and operate Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathes and/or mills. Responsible for setting up and operating equipment with some program editing and offsetting on various parts. Ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.

Shifts

5:00am-3:00pm or 6:00am-4:30pm (4-day work week, 10 hours per day, Monday-Thursday)

Duties

1. Read blueprints and routers to meet production and quality standards.
2. Set up and operate swiss type CNC lathe or CNC milling center based on job requirements. May assist lower-level operators.
3. Perform limited editing and offsetting of programs.
4. Use standard measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers to ensure quality while maintaining productivity.
5. Follow plant rules and policies governing the workplace.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of CNC machining experience or a technical degree.
• Ability to read blueprints, process routers, and SOPs.
• Perform operations requiring fine motor skills.
• Stand primarily during work; limited bending or twisting.
• Capable of moving products weighing up to fifty pounds.
• Good visual acuity to detect subtle product non-conformities.
