Job description

StandardAero is one of the largest independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul providers in the aerospace industry. At our plants, our units engage in a variety of work scopes involving trouble-shooting, problem solving, and working together to embody our #1 priority, which is ensuring the safety of our people and our product.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  1. Read and interpret blueprints, overhaul manuals, specifications, and repair procedures.
  2. Compute basic math.
  3. Set-up and operate ID/OD CNC and manual grinder to perform specific operations per router.
  4. Engineer new set-ups and run more than one type of machine.
  5. Understanding and utilization of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimension and tolerance principles.
  6. Yield on 1st run with little supervision.
  7. Works with exotic metals.
  8. Understand basic plating process.
  9. Able to do basic pre and post grind plating calculations.
  10. Knowledge of feeds, speeds, dressing wheels, use of coolants and oils.
  11. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced vibration tools in order to perform precision grinding operations.
  12. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  13. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  14. Handling of customer hardware using proper methods.
  15. Reviews router for processing instruction and completion.
  16. Use of precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of product for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  17. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department team lead.
  18. Cross train.
  19. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

The requirements for an ideal candidate include:

  • Ability to set-up and run parts.
  • Ability to produce quality parts on the first run.
  • Knowledge of how to grind exotic materials and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others.
  • Ability to make decisions, strong communication skills-internal and external to company.
  • Ability to do basic pre and post grind / plating calculations. Understands how to establish ID’s and OD’s to determine plating thickness.
  • Exhibits ability to set-up and use basic inspection equipment, calipers, micrometers, indicators, and dial bore, comparator.
  • Ability to communicate well - follow basic instructions.
  • Ability to read and determine if router is correct for processing based on B/P, OHM, and Spec or Customer requirements.
  • Ability to understand basic special processes. (Chrome, Nickel and Paint).
