Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC and manual machines. You will read blueprints, determine tooling, and plan machining sequences while maintaining productivity, quality and safety on the shop floor.

You will work with mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs, adjust offsets, verify fixtures, and support engineering with first-run programs. The role requires at least three years of experience, strong math skills, and the ability to work overtime as

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 3+ years' machining experience.
  • Experience loading/unloading parts, tooling, and basic inspections.
  • Ability to read drawings and perform basic math.

Role Overview
  • Responsible for setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machines.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, work instructions, and technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, machine settings, and machining sequences.
  • Works independently while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Multitasks and operates multiple machines when appropriate to maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret, and perform machining operations per drawings and work instructions.
  • Operate CNC and manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs as applicable.
  • Make machine offset adjustments to correct out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Verify fixture setups meet quality requirements and established standards.
  • Calculate and set machine controls for cutting depth, speed, feed rates, spindle positioning, and coolant flow.
  • Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities on equipment.
  • Assist Engineering with first-run and prove-out programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of other shop processes and support production needs.
  • Follow all safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
  • Contribute to team goals, communicate effectively, and protect confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of related machining experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic machining experience including loading and unloading parts, tooling, and performing basic inspections preferred.
  • Experience with equipment such as Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills (HAAS), VTLs, NC Lathes, Manual Mills, Surface Grinders, and EDMs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, drawings, correspondence, and technical documentation.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common-sense reasoning and solve routine production problems.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to support business and customer needs.
