Job summary

ResourceMFG in Houston is seeking a Machinist I to set up and operate machine shop equipment, read blueprints, and produce parts to exact tolerances.

You will select tooling and methods for turning, milling, drilling, boring, and grinding, measure parts with micrometers and calipers, and maintain a clean, safe work area. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Experience or machining-related training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous machining experience or completion of a machining-related technical training program.
• Working knowledge of machine shop practices, materials and tooling, precision measurement techniques
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, saws and other machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and work orders.
• Select tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining methods for each project.
• Perform machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and threading.
• Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
• Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
• Identify machining defects and take corrective action following established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

As a Machinist I, you'll play a key role in manufacturing, modifying, repairing, and finishing mechanical components to exact specifications and tolerances.
