Job summary

Valmet in Houston is seeking a Machinist (Horizontal Lathe) on 2nd shift to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to manufacture precision parts.

You will read drawings, adjust speeds and feeds, install fixtures, and verify parts with inspection reports. The shop is air-conditioned in Northwest Houston with opportunities for advancement.

Candidates should have 3+ years with CNC or manual machines and know G-code on Fanuc controls.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3 years' experience on CNC or manual machines.
• Ability to read and understand G-Codes.
• Experience machining valve components is a plus.

Responsibilities

Machinist Horizontal Lathe

Schedule: 2nd shift

Schedule: Air-conditioned Modern Shop located in Northwest Houston & room for advancement for the right individual

Position Overview

This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Experience on CNC lathe or mill
• Install chuck jaws and or fixtures on machine
• Set-Up CNC Machines using edge finder or probe to locate program zero
• Read in and adjust program speeds, feeds, depth of cuts as required
• Machine part to drawing
• Measure part, complete inspection report and adjust offsets
• May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor

Core Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years' experience on CNC Machines or Manual Machines
• Must be able to read and understand G-Codes and G-Codes using Fanuc controls.
• Able to perform jobs duties with or without reasonable accommodations
• Experience is machining valve components a plus

Other

• Must be able to machine exotic machines materials such as Titanium and Inconel
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications and produce precision work.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
• Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
