Textron Aviation in Michigan is seeking a Machinist - Grinder for the 2nd shift to operate ball form thread grinding on OD/ID machines. You will set up equipment, inspect outputs, and ensure parts meet manufacturing prints while maintaining clean, organized work areas.
Responsibilities include tool changes, data control, and continuous improvement participation. Requires 2 years of machining experience across ID/OD/grinding, with G-code/M-code programming skills and GD&T knowledge.

Operating ball form thread grinding on OD/ID machines. Responsible for producing parts from manufacturing prints and setting-up the machine. Figuring fit and function of the nut to screw size and general maintenance of the machines are also part of this position.
Set up and operate equipment as directed appropriate tooling/gages for part production/inspection
Complete customer product requirements as associated with work order.
Perform in-process inspection as required to ensure 100% quality product.
Identify discrepancies in estimated setup and run times and resolve with leadership.
Responsible for document and data control of programs, tool lists, and other related data with respect to job packets and M2M data.
Maintain basic equipment and work area on a daily basis in a clean and orderly condition.
Responsible for cleaning and performing general maintenance on equipment.
Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area.
Responsible for stopping production if a part or process problem is identified and notifying leader or quality personnel.
Initiate nonconforming product procedures when necessary.
Assist in training of other machinists.
Responsible for identification and elimination of any unnecessary waste.
Participates in corrective and preventative activities as required.
Support and adhere to the Quality and Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
Responsible to participate in continuous improvement and associated training.
Performs other duties as assigned.
In this role, you can expect to set up and process components on Manual and CNC machines, ensuring the safe and proper use of equipment and precision tools. You’ll collaborate closely with experts and peers across the Machine Shop, maintaining a professional and respectful environment. Your work will be crucial in performing efficient set-ups and repairs, ensuring compliance and safety in a clean, organized workspace.
Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
Optimize Machine Efficiency : Keep machines running smoothly, maximizing spindle time (machine run time) to meet daily output targets
Support Factory Systems : Ensure safety, quality, and operational systems are maintained and functional
Equipment Setup : Set up manual and CNC equipment, measure and verify setups for successful results
Tool Management : Change cutting tools, adjust machine feeds and speeds for optimal performance
Code Operations : Run and edit G and M codes on applicable machines and equipment
