About your new role:
Due to continued growth within our business, we are seeking an experienced workshop based Fitter/Machinist to join our high performing team in Devonport.
Within this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing allocated work to the required standards within agreed timeframes;
- Reading and interpreting job specifications, technical drawings and schematics;
- Operating heavy machinery, hand tools and lifting equipment etc;
- Making sketches or manufacturing parts to drawings;
- Maintaining equipment, tools and work area to a high standard;
- Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure;
- Directing and mentoring apprentices where required;
- General mechanical fitting work as required; and
- Performing work safely and comply with WHS procedures.
- Repairs and reconditioning of hydraulic cylinders used in a variety of applications;
- Disassembly, inspection, measuring and reporting on components;
- Assembly and testing of cylinders; Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure

What you need to succeed:- Relevant Trade Qualifications: Machinist or First-Class Machinist;
- Experience working within a workshop environment and knowledge of machining procedures;
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings;
- Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines;
- Work to fine tolerances with speed, accuracy and attention to detail;
- Proficient with Internal and external screw cutting, boring and grooving;
- Experience in machining a broad range of materials;
- Forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable);
- Effective communication, time management and organisational skills; and
- Valid driver’s licence, own transport and a demonstrated safety first mindset.
