Machinist / Fitter and Turner (Hydraulic Cylinders)

About the role:

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced workshop-based Fitter / Machinist to join our team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.

Responsibilities include:
  • Performing work to required standards within set timeframes;
  • Reading and interpreting job specifications, technical drawings, and schematics;
  • Operating heavy machinery, hand tools, and lifting equipment;
  • Manufacturing parts to drawings and sketches;
  • Maintaining equipment, tools, and work area;
  • Keeping documentation and service records;
  • Mentoring apprentices;
  • Performing general mechanical fitting work;
  • Ensuring safety and compliance with WHS procedures;
  • Reconditioning hydraulic cylinders;
  • Disassembling, inspecting, measuring, and reporting on components;
  • Assembling and testing cylinders.
Qualifications and skills:
  • Trade qualifications as Machinist or First-Class Machinist;
  • Experience in workshop environments and machining procedures;
  • Ability to read technical specifications and drawings;
  • Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines;
  • Proficiency in screw cutting, boring, and grooving;
  • Experience machining various materials;
  • Forklift ticket and MIG welding (desirable);
  • Good communication, time management, and organizational skills;
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport;
  • Safety-first mindset.
