Description

As a Machinist, you will program, set-up, adjust, and operate manual and/or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining centers, lathes, and milling machines where set-up, detail, and operating procedures are prescribed. Manual machining involves special one-off parts or prototype parts.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
  • Set-up bore gauges and other inspection equipment.
  • Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.
  • Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.
  • Perform required preventive maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated.
  • Perform manual machining and CNC machining under the direction of Machinist Journeyman or Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • E.D. or High School Diploma.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge and experience of machining practices and techniques.
  • Basic mechanical principles.
  • Shop mathematics.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, sit, and perform medium to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds frequently, 100 pounds maximum).
  • Visual acuity and hand dexterity.
  • Knowledge of CNC controls.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools.
Working Conditions:
  • Typical hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Weekend hours as necessary.
