Job Schedule:2nd Shift 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

This position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, etc. to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

Essential Functions:

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required and method of setup and arrangement.
  • Work with a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Make shop computations.
  • Fit and put together precision parts and determine material, parts and equipment required.
  • Fabricate piece parts per work instructions, drawings and specifications through the use of required machine tools.
  • Inspect piece parts per work instruction and drawing requirements.
  • Set up and operate machine tools.
  • Use, adjust, clean, and store the tools, machinery and equipment used.
  • Keeps records and reports of the use of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6years of prior machinist experience or Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2years of prior machinist experience.
  • Experience as a manual machinist on a conventional lathe and CNC machining in an industrial / manufacturing environment.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • A trade school certification or state-licensed Journeyman Machinist certification is strongly desired.
  • Manual machining experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of setting up the operation of milling machines and lathes.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, blueprints, production plans and/or work instructions.
  • Working knowledge performing in-process inspection of finished parts utilizing appropriate inspection and gaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry applicable laws, codes, ordinances and regulations.
  • Knowledge of machine tools and equipment, machine shop procedures and practices, principals and properties. Knowledge of basic mathematic principles to solve problems.
