Job description

About the Role

This position performs machine shop work for the repair and maintenance of dies, molds, and related equipment. In this role, you will set up and operate machine tools and fit and assemble parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout and machining procedures.

Your Impact
  1. Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.
  2. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units. Consults with engineers, designers, and/or programmers and studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts, or descriptions of parts to be replaced, to determine dimensions and tolerances of pieces to be machined, sequence of operations, and tools, materials, and machines required.
  3. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. Assists in determining dimensions and tolerances.
  4. Provides instruction and guidance to Machinist A’s.
  5. May program CNC milling machines using various software applications.
  6. Sets up and operates metal-removing machines, such as lathe, milling machine, or grinder, to machine parts to specifications.
  7. Uses precision measuring instruments to adhere to specifications, dimensions, and alignment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  8. May operate various types of precision machine tools such as computerized milling machines, cylindrical grinders, surface grinders, and EDM machines, WEDM.
  9. Uses familiar knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in regards to machine shop and Wire EDM operation and equipment.
  10. Sets up and operates Wire EDM Machine to machine parts to specifications.
  11. Programs Wire EDM machines using various types of software (i.e. DP Esrit).
  12. Reviews Blue light reports and makes program adjustments as needed.
About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring
  1. Associate’s degree, apprenticeship program, or two-year technical or trade school degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 4-8 years relevant shop experience.
  2. Must be able to operate multiple pieces of equipment.
  3. Experience with CNC desired.
  4. Must be 18 years old to apply.
  5. Experience with EDM drill machines (i.e. Hole Popper).
  6. Experience with DP Esprit or equivalent software.
  7. Working knowledge of Siemens NX or other CAD software.
