Nidec Corporation is seeking a skilled machinist for on-site work in Mankato, MN. The role involves machining and fitting metal parts, interpreting engineering drawings, and operating CNC machines.

Shift: 2nd shift (Monday – Thursday, 4:00p.m. – 2:00a.m.)
Work Location: On‑site, Mankato, MN
Starting Salary: $24.58 to $28.57 per hour plus a 10% shift differential (an additional $2.00 per hour technical differential attainable after meeting CBA criteria).
Pay Frequency: Bi‑weekly
Carries through to completion with minimum supervision the machining and fitting of all kinds of metal parts, tools, and machines. Interprets engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, written specifications, and schematics to properly layout and perform work. Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements. Determines operation sequences. Uses machinists’ hand tools skillfully and determines machinability of metals to select proper tooling and application. Requires experience, trade skill and knowledge of machine‑shop practice. Operation of CNC machines, including working knowledge of programming fundamentals, is required. Work produced must consistently meet specification. Monitors coolant quality and changes coolant as required. Performs daily and weekly TPM tasks with accuracy and consistency. Performs other duties as designated by supervisor in the same salary grade or below.
In pursuit (full‑time or part‑time) of a two‑year vocational or accredited school certificate or degree. Once the certificate or degree is awarded and the candidate completes 4,000 in‑house machining hours, progression to MachinistA is possible. Requires knowledge of machining practices and techniques, basic mechanical principles and shop mathematics, setups, tooling applications, operating methods, and machinability of materials. Must be a sole U.S. citizen.
