Position Summary

Reporting to Machine Shop Manager, the Machinist-II is responsible for the operation of computer numerically controlled machines to support the production of Praxis products. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have a willingness to learn, is able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to develop & maintain relationships.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  1. Learn mechanical principles of Praxis products and manufacturing to become technical expert/resource on Praxis parts and products fabricated in house
  2. Programming of machines including set up and fixturing
  3. Operate lathes and surface grinders
  4. Responsible for the operation of inspection equipment
  5. Read and interpret engineer drawings to assist with machinery set up
  6. Understand the impact of tolerances for error-free production
  7. Perform production operations in support of Praxis Technology processes to meet scheduled and quality client commitments
  8. Maintain compliance with Praxis’ Quality Management System
  9. Accurately complete all required record sheets
  10. Regularly maintain production and escalate any issues for resolution
  11. Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and applying best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment
  12. Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes while maintaining an orderly production facility

What You Must Bring to This Role

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience – required
  2. Machine trade or technical school certification - desired
  3. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents including: maintenance instructions, procedure and manuals – required
  4. Demonstrated experience working CAM systems - required
  5. Demonstrated success working with technical/mechanical devices - required
  6. Proven ability to operate with computers, microscopes and other tools - required
  7. Experience in production operations, safety and security protocols - required
  8. A history of excellence in communication and active listening - required
  9. Proven success working independently and in a team environment - required
  10. Demonstrated comfort with basic math skills including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and rounding - required
  11. Demonstrated comfort with both verbal and written communication - required
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build personal and team-based relationships with all levels of associates - required
  13. Comfort with basic computer applications and data entry - required
  14. Proven ability to calmly transition between multiple and changing priorities - required
  15. Ability to work production shift schedule - required
  16. Demonstrated success working in a manufacturing environment - desired
  17. Ability to use forklift with proper safety protocol - desired

Working Conditions & Physical Efforts

  1. Work is performed in a Production environment
  2. May be required to lift up to 70 lbs.
  3. Ability to stand or sit for a prolonged period of time
  4. Visual functions being those of near vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  5. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with leadership & clients
