About the Opportunity:

• Schedule: 1st Shift, M-F, 8-hour shifts starting at 5, 6, or 7, or, M-Th, 4 10-hour shifts, O/T required from time to time.

Machinist Requirements and Qualifications:
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Must have working knowledge to read and interpret prints.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic skills in CNC programming and precision hand tools are required.
  • Stand more than 1/3 of the time.
  • Walk more than 1/3 of the time.
  • Sit under 1/3 of the time.
  • Use hands and fingers and arms over 2/3 of the time.
  • No Kneeling, Crawling, Stooping, or Climbing.
  • Lifting items under 10/25 pounds 2/3 of the time.
  • Lifting items under 50 pounds 1/3 of the time.
  • No lifting of items over 50 pounds.
Machinist Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for quality of work performed in machine shop area. Accountable for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances. Must set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut-bend, machine, or form parts. Uses a variety of machine shop hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Assist Group Lead in all functions of the machine shop including workflow and process improvement. Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Plant Manager and/or Group Lead.
  • Responsible for keeping both machinery and plant area in good working order, including cleaning and maintenance of machine shop equipment and all tools involved in daily production.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping practices in the Fabrication area.
  • Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices.
  • Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Group Lead, Assistant Plant Manager and/or Vice President.
