POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the fabrication and assembly of new machines and repaired parts and equipment designed and built by the NY Engineering department. Ensures proper function of equipment and parts when released to the Production department.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Fabricate and assemble fixtures and components for packaging and related equipment.
  • Support and assist the Production department with technical expertise.
  • Repair and maintain production machine parts as required.
  • Assist Production and Maintenance departments with equipment repairs.
  • Make necessary repairs to damaged or worn production equipment parts.
  • Continuously seek improvements in fabrication processes and machinery.
  • Maintain a regular and consistent clean-up schedule weekly.
  • Support the Liquid department and Warehouse with equipment repairs.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Ability to work with blueprints.
  • Knowledge of CNC machine operation.
  • Knowledge of FeatureCAM software.
  • Ability to assemble machinery and machine components.
  • Proficiency in using all machine shop tools for fabrication.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimal supervision required from the engineering manager and mechanical engineer.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Trade School Diploma.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficiency in welding, drilling, and tapping.
  • Setup and drawing using FeatureCAM for CNC milling machines.
  • Setup and operation of CNC lathes.
  • Setup and operation of conventional lathes and milling machines.
  • Use of surface grinders.
  • Cutting and bending sheet metal.
  • Understanding torque settings for fasteners.
  • Shop safety protocols.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Bearing fitting and blueprint reading.
  • At least 5 years' experience in parts fabrication and machinery assembly.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to move bilaterally right and left.
  • Stand for up to 7 hours per day.
  • Walk continuously to service machinery.
  • Bend, squat, and kneel as needed.
  • Lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain steady footing.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
