Job summary

Louis Allis, LLC in Warrior, AL is seeking an Electric Motor Machinist with shop experience to operate machine tools and repair mechanical assemblies. The role requires reading prints, maintaining tight tolerances, and wearing PPE as required.

You will manufacture parts from drawings, set up equipment, and use various tools while following safety procedures. A minimum of 2 years in a shop environment is expected; benefits are included with full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Trade School Education.
• Must be able to read and properly execute machined and fabricated parts off of drawings/blueprints.
• Must hold to strict tolerance and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
• Must always wear personal protective equipment at work, including safety glasses and steel toe boots.
• Must provide own tools and toolbox.
• Minimum 2 years' shop experience required.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate various machine tools to repair and manufacture mechanical assemblies. (Lathes, Horizontal Mill, Vertical Mill, Drill, Press).
• Manufacture new parts from prints or samples.
• Use hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
• Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizing.
• Turn and undercut commutators.
• Lift, tighten, adjust and or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and observe safety precautions.
• Observe all safety procedures.
• Assist other machinists in the department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by lead person, shop supervisor, and/or plant manager.
• Maintain housekeeping in the assigned area. Routinely clean the machines and areas to minimize debris and hazards.
• Understand machine lubrication, maintenance, and proper operation.
• Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by lead person, shop supervisor, and/or plant manager.
