Job summary

Vesuvius USA seeks a skilled Machinist to operate milling and drilling machines for fabricating parts and assembling dies and molds used in advanced refractories. Precision, safety, and blueprints interpretation are essential to ensure quality production.

Required are a High School Diploma or equivalent, experience with machine tools or mechanical assembly, and strong safety knowledge. A PA driver’s license and ability to work on-site are also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains milling machines, lathe, drill press, saws and grinders.
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
  • Checks output for quality assurance.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Job description

The Machinist utilizes milling and drilling machines to fabricate parts and assemble dies and molds utilized in the manufacturing of advanced refractories.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand, walk, use hands to operate computer equipment, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The work environment has temperature extremes and moderate to high noise level. Regional travel may be required occasionally.
