Job summary

Ireland Electric Company is seeking a skilled Machinist to manufacture and repair motor, pump and gear components in our shop. You will operate mills and lathes, read drawings, and use precision tools to meet exact tolerances.

This role requires attention to detail, physical endurance, and the ability to collaborate with the Service Manager to resolve machining problems and maintain production quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience with high tolerances.
• Experience operating horizontal lathes, milling machines, vertical turret lathes and boring mills.
• Ability to read instructions and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate mills and lathes with appropriate fixtures and tools.
• Verify finished work meets specifications.
• Collaborate with Service Manager to resolve machining issues.
• Work to achieve production goals and maintain quality.
• Maintain clean workspace and machinery; follow procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Machinist Job Description

• Manual Machinist
• Manufacture and make repairs per instructions and/or drawings to electric motor, pump and gear components
• Operate machine shop equipment.
• Operate overhead cranes and perform rigging.
• Perform inspections including measuring fits.
• Properly filling out all paperwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year of experience operating horizontal lathes, milling machines, vertical turret lathes and boring mils.
• Must have ability to work with extremely close tolerances (example: .0005\" to .001\")
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be physically able to safely operate all equipment, able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and capable of standing for long periods of time.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Selects aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathes
• Verifies conformance of finished work to specifications
• Confers with the Service Manager and others to resolve machining or assembly problems
• Works to achieve production goals in a timely manner
• Adheres to and maintains quality work practices, qualifications, and procedures
• Maintains machinery and a clean work area
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
