Job summary

A manufacturing company in Tulsa is seeking a Machinist to operate CNC machine cells with minimal assistance. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience, proficiency in reading prints, and the ability to perform basic inspections using quality tools. Responsibilities include loading products, maintaining machine quality, and recording inspection data. Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in machining or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 3-5 axis CNC machine cells with minimal assistance.
  • Load and unload products to be machined safely.
  • Maintain product quality through adjustment of CNC offsets.
  • Perform inspection and record inspection processes.
  • Perform basic deburr operations and edge breaking
  • Interact with production tracking tools to charge time and manage parts
  • Perform basic setup operations including fixtures, tools, and CNC programs
  • Maintain product quality by adjusting CNC offsets as needed
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity using drawings and advanced tools
  • Other duties as needed

Job description

Position Summary

With minimal assistance can operate 3-5 axis CNC machine cells as well as standalone machines, which requires basic machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, as well as loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. Level two machinist competencies include the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as height and air gauges and bench inspection. The level two machinist will have basic competencies in print reading and common CNC G and M codes. Typically 2-4 years of experience.

  • Shift differential is $3.50 an hour (Fri thru Sun from 5:30 am to 5:30 pm)
  • $150.00 annual allowance for steel toe shoes
  • $150.00 annual allowance for prescription safety glasses

Required Experience
  • Basic experience working with mechanical processes and methods such as hand tools, and light equipment such as saws, drills and pneumatic tools
  • This position requires evidence of success in level one machining duties for at least two years prior to hire
  • 2+ years of experience
Level Of Education
  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Load and unload product to be machined in a number of fixtures and operations
  • Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances
  • Perform and record inspection processes such as measuring and validating part features considering customer supplied dimensional tolerances and specifications
  • Perform basic deburr operations such as edge breaking and light surface blending using several deburr tools and media
  • Interact with production tracking tools such as Labor Track and Shop Trak to charge time to job orders and claim parts at the end of the shift
  • Other job duties to be assigned based on business needs
  • Perform basic setup operations which includes setting up fixtures, cutting tools and CNC programs
  • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools
  • Other duties to be assigned based on business needs
Required Skills
  • The ability to read and write English
  • Introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals
  • A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use
  • A basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical application regarding nuts and bolts
  • A basic knowledge of part holding methods and procedures
  • A basic knowledge of deburr tools and methods
  • The ability to interact with computers and CNC controls at a basic level
  • The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance
  • A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs
  • A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry
  • The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes
  • This position does require working knowledge or intermediate use of technology—to include computers, and other devices
