Job summary

A manufacturing company in Tulsa is seeking a Machinist to operate CNC machine cells and perform basic setups. The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years of experience and knowledge of mechanical processes. Responsibilities include loading products, monitoring CNC operations, and performing inspections to meet specifications. Responsibilities also include basic math skills and the ability to use inspection tools. This role offers a full benefits package including allowances for safety equipment and vacation accrual.

Job description

Position Summary

With minimal assistance can operate 3-5 axis CNC machine cells as well as standalone machines, which requires basic machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, as well as loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. Machinist competencies include the ability to use quality inspection tools and techniques such as height and air gauges and bench inspection. Typically 0-2 years of experience.

Required Experience
  • Basic experience working with mechanical processes and methods such as hand tools, and light equipment such as saws, drills and pneumatic tools
  • General shop knowledge experience required
Level Of Education
  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Load and unload product to be machined in a number of fixtures and operations
  • Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances
  • Perform and record inspection processes such as measuring and validating part features considering customer supplied dimensional tolerances and specifications
  • Perform basic deburr operations such as edge breaking and light surface blending using several deburr tools and media
  • Interact with production tracking tools such as Labor Track and Shop Trak to charge time to job orders and claim parts at the end of the shift
  • Other job duties to be assigned based on business needs
  • Perform basic setup operations which includes setting up fixtures, cutting tools and CNC programs
  • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools

Required Skills
  • The ability to read and write English
  • Introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals
  • A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use
  • A basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical application regarding nuts and bolts
  • A basic knowledge of part holding methods and procedures
  • A basic knowledge of deburr tools and methods
  • The ability to interact with computers and CNC controls at a basic level
  • The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance
  • A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs
  • A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry
  • The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes
  • This position does require working knowledge or intermediate use of technology—to include computers, and other devices
