Job summary

MEKRA Lang North America (MLNA) is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate manual machines, interpret blueprints and CAD files, and select tools and materials for precision parts. The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing, proficiency with GD&T, and the ability to read micrometers and calipers.

You'll monitor operations, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety compliance while collaborating with engineers and quality teams to optimize production processes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of machining experience (or equivalent training/apprenticeship).
  • Proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T.
  • Ability to interpret measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to stand for extended hours and lift 30 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to determine machining requirements.
  • Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining methods for each project.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust offsets to maintain tolerances.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • For check gauges and fixtures maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality teams to optimize production processes.
  • Assist production with fixturing modifications or repairs when required to meet daily rate.

Qualification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of machining experience (or equivalent training/apprenticeship preferred)
  • Proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Ability to proficiently interpret measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to stand for extended hours
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise & moving machinery
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds
