Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Terrell is partnering with a local Terrell manufacturer to fill a Machinist position. The role focuses on precision machining to blueprint specifications, setting up and operating lathes and milling machines, and ensuring parts meet tolerances.

You will read drawings, interpret prints, measure parts with calipers and other precision tools, monitor speeds and feeds, and document results.

Responsibilities

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and measurement instruments.
• Prepare G code program based on the prints.
• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, etc.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units with precision tools (CMM, calipers, bore gauges, micrometers).
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic and advanced machine tools for precision machining.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences.
• Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs.
• Check work parts to ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
• Operate equipment to achieve operational efficiency.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment.
• Evaluate procedures and recommend changes for efficiency and adaptability to setup.

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
• Prepare G code program at the machine base on the prints.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, etc.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as CMM, calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, etc.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
• Check work parts to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled.
• Operate equipment achieving operational efficiency.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, etc.
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
• Investigate manufacturing problems as necessary and follows through with solutions as directed.
