Job summary

Sealed Air is seeking a Manual Machinist for Morning shift (6:30 AM–3:00 PM) in Streetsboro, Ohio. You will operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce precision parts from blueprints and drawings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in machining preferred.

  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools to produce high-quality parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine operations and setup.
  • Select tools, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters for each job.
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to ensure specifications.
  • Maintain records of work completed and deviations encountered.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance and safety practices.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and adjust as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear PPE at all times.
  • Keep work area clean and organized per health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet specs and resolve issues.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust processes for efficiency and quality.

Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE:

Shift: Morning - Monday - Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Pay Rate: $28.00

The Manual Machinist is responsible for operating manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to create precision parts and components. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work with technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. The Manual Machinist will be expected to work independently or as part of a team to meet production goals, ensuring quality and safety standards are adhered to at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate various manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, to produce high-quality parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequence of operations, and machine setup.
  • Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters for each job.
  • Inspect and measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time tracking and any deviations or issues encountered during production.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues, identify defects, and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all company health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure product specifications are met and resolve any production-related issues.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust machining processes for efficiency and quality improvements.
Qualifications

  • Experience in operating manual machining equipment preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Dexterity and manual skill to operate machinery and handle tools.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy, industrial environment.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors for wiring and part identification.
Working Conditions
  • Full-time, with potential overtime as needed.
  • Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
