Job summary

Georg Fischer in Shawnee, Kansas is seeking a machinist to operate and set up equipment with attention to precision and safety. You will follow directions from the General Manager and adhere to 6S standards while maintaining quality and productivity in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, performing milling/boring operations, and ensuring grinding and other processes meet specifications. A strong math background and knowledge of shop practices are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, desired.
• 2 years experience in vocational training or machine shop.
• Good working knowledge of metal cutting feeds and speeds, threading terminology and calculating angles for setting sine bars.
• Good working knowledge of standard shop mathematics.
• Able to work from blueprints, sketches and/or verbal descriptions for planning operational sequences.
• Understand grinding principles and procedures.

• Perform other job‑related duties as directed.
• Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18801 certification requirements.
• Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor.

Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:

• Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. in a safe manner.

• Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.

• Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of time.

• Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required).

• Exposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required).

• Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts.

• Exposure to sparks, chips, and dust (eye protection required).
