Overview

CFD Research Corporation is seeking a Machinist to join our team and play a pivotal role in the operation of 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines. This position is a new role that will work on a growing team of engineers and technicians and will encompass setup of machines to help support technology development programs designed and prototyped at our new Hollywood, Alabama Engineering Test Center, located a short distance from our Headquarters in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will have experience operating lathes, 3, 4, & 5 axis CNC machines, reading machine setup sheets, tool lists, and other related documents. This role requires strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines (lathes and related equipment).
• Read and interpret machine setup sheets, tool lists, and other related documentation.
• Set up machines to support technology development programs designed and prototyped at the Hollywood Engineering Test Center.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians on manufacturing tooling and fixtures when applicable.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Associate degree or higher and 4 years minimum experience in a machining environment
• Experience designing and developing tooling and fixtures for manufacturing
• Proficient in working with a variety of materials, including plastics, aluminum, steel, stainless steels, and nickel alloys

Desired Qualifications

• Familiarity with AS9100 process
• Deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with ERP systems (Cetec)
• Experience with aerospace hardware
• Experience with Mazak CNCs (Smooth AI)
• Experience with Mastercam and Solidworks

• Location: This individual will work onsite in Hollywood, AL.
