Job summary

System One in Richmond, VA is seeking a Machinist/ Machine Operator for a contract-to-hire role. Onsite, 40 hours/week, second shift 3pm–11:30pm, with overtime available. Compensation ranges from $22 to $28 per hour, based on experience.

The position requires the ability to interpret drawings, operate CNC/Fin Punch Press/Expander tooling, and perform preventative maintenance. You will set up tooling from blueprints, work in a fast-paced environment, and participate in continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift.
• Proven mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with mechanical equipment.
• Background in hands-on troubleshooting with machinery.
• Ability to use measuring devices (calipers, tape measures, etc.).
• Team player with focus on improving equipment and team performance.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods and stoop/bend frequently.
• Able to follow directions.
• Able to interpret drawings, routers and notes after training.

Responsibilities

• Operate metalworking equipment to produce quality parts.
• Use blueprints and router information to set-up tooling and machines accurately.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance tasks.
• As an active team member in the area, participate in continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, productivity and tooling life.
• Safely use electric, pneumatic, floor and hand tools.
