About This Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Machinist at the Orange, Texas location within Sabine River Operations (SRO). Machinists provide maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Operate Lathe, drill press and various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
  • Able to operate a Boring Mill is a plus.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as necessary.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Inspect machinery for needed repairs, documents them, make minor repairs.
  • Perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean work area and shop.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety rules, regulations.
  • Wear appropriate PPE.
  • Follow and adhere to all quality protocols.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to run multiple machines in the shop independently without any assistance or training.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of manual machining experience.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must have current, valid US Driver’s License.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Physical Requirements
  • Climate controlled shop
  • Pinching hazards.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stand for prolonged periods, push/pull, twist, stoop, squat, lift, climb.
  • Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less)

  • Precision Measurement: Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments, including measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial test indicators.

  • Blueprint Reading: Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn new processes and equipment.
  • Tool Operation: Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a team.
  • Initiative: Strong work ethic and initiative.
