Job summary

SMS group Inc is seeking a Machinist to join our shop floor in Muscatine, IA. You will set up and operate Mazak, Okuma, and manual lathes, ensuring precision and safety in metalworking processes.

You should be hands-on, able to read blueprints, convert metric and standard measurements, and learn critical procedures. The role emphasizes teamwork, quality, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in a manufacturing setting.

Summary

The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machines including, Mazak, Okuma, and manual lathes.

The right candidate will:

• Be a safety minded person who enjoys hands on work.
• Ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
• Understand Mazatrol
• Understanding and able to edit G code as needed is a plus
• Integrated Renishaw probing
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Interpret assembly and blue prints drawings.
• Follow proper safety precautions.
• Must be courteous and work well with others.
• Ability to properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
• Ability to train new or other employees to perform same job responsibilities
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.
• Drug free, safety minded and maintain an excellent attendance record
